Travel to Andorra with your pets

The regulations for travelling with your pet (cats and dogs) to Andorra are a bit odd. There is no airport present in Andorra, so the only way to enter the country with your pet is through land. Andorra is surrounded by Spain and France, so it will be assumed that your pet has already met the regulations for entering the EU.

TRAVELING FROM EU MEMBER STATES TO ANDORRA

All pets travelling to Andorra from an EU member state have to meet the following requirements:

  • Pet passport: The pet must have an EU     pet passport and the passport must be issued by a licensed veterinarian.

  • Rabies vaccination: All pets older than 3 months must have been vaccinated against rabies which is certified by a veterinarian in the pet passport.    

  • MicrochipThe pet most have a microchip (compliant with ISO) which is implanted on the same day or before the first rabies vaccination has taken place.    

 

TRAVELING FROM THIRD COUNTRIES TO ANDORRA

As mentioned before, when your pet arrives in Andorra, it already had to comply to the EU regulations (as entry is through France or Spain) arriving from a third country. Nonetheless, the pet will need to meet the following requirements:

  • Rabies vaccination: All pets older than 3 months must have been vaccinated against rabies.   

  • MicrochipThe pet most have a microchip (compliant with ISO) which is implanted on the same day or before the first rabies vaccination has taken place.    

  • Veterinary certificate: The Veterinary Certificate should state that the pet is healthy, free of parasites and diseases communicable to humans. It should also contain proof of rabies vaccination. The certificate should be signed by a certified veterinarian and not be older than 10 days on the day of arrival.
